This scribe features a high quality zinc-plated magnet on the rear end of the scriber. This magnet allows you to quickly and easily determine if the metal you are working on is ferrous or non-ferrous. All Nissen Scribes come with 100% Tungsten Carbide 1/8" points. These point are much harder than typical steel point scribes and they may be re-sharpened on a grinding wheel if you desire.
